Our Groups

At The Lighthouse Project, we understand that grief affects everyone differently, especially children. That's why we've created a safe and supportive environment where children and their families can navigate the challenges of loss together, yet separately. Our meeting space, group discussions, and activities are designed to provide space for both reflection and recreation. We empower families to navigage their grief journey in a way that feels authentic and meaningful to them.

Spring Groups

The Lighthouse Project meets Mondays in Bangor from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

About our Groups

Research shows that consistent support and connection are crucial for navigating grief and fostering healing. Our eight-week program provides a dedicated space for families to gather each week, offering a rhythm of support during a time of upheaval. These weekly meetings foster a sense of community, allowing participants to connect with others who understand their experience. This consistent connection provides opportunities for decompression, emotional expression, and the gradual development of coping skills and understanding. Over these eight weeks, families can lean on each other, share their stories, and begin to rebuild a sense of normalcy in a safe and supportive environment.

Our Approach

While parents find solace and connection with other adults, their children can participate in age-appropriate groups designed to help them understand and cope with their grief.

Our Beliefs

We believe that healing from grief doesn't have to revolve around direct discussions of death. Our programs incorporate play, creative activities, and experiential learning to help children and adults alike process their emotions and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

Our Methods

We believe that children and adults alike can feel more comfortable expressing their feelings in an environment designed for them. That is why our facilitators are trained to address the specific needs challenges of each age group.

Our Way Forward

Through art, music, games, and shared experiences, participants can express themselves, build resilience, and find moments of joy amidst their grief. These activities provide a gentle and engaging way to explore complex emotions, foster connection, and promote healing without solely focusing on the loss itself.
